What’s up today? (Part 1)

I checked on Pornhub, and at least in Finland / Europe the first offered payment method is SEPA and under that there is cryptocurrency in small print.

But yeah, really interesting to see how this evolves. My first feeling is that after this the general view on cryptocurrencies shifts a bit more from “pyramid scheme” to “a payment method”.

Interesting. It sounds like crypto is the solution to censorship by payment gateways. We have seen this happen at the state level too with Iran, etc.

If they start trying to ban these transactions, it will play into the hands of the more anonymous currencies too. If they try to ban the content, it will push it one distributed data networks too.

It will get harder and harder for the thought police to censor stuff as these technologies mature.

The porn industry has a tendency to adopt technology early and pave the way the for others in mainstream markets to do the same later. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was indeed the case. Definitely something to keep an eye on

Why do they say Pornhub is forced to go full crypto for payments, when at least in Finland bank wire transfers (SEPA) is an option? Is it different in USA?

That new Jams logo looks great!

? I … don’t … know ? !!

Who here is form USA?

I would like to know if “crypto only” is really the case in US. Even if it was, the rest of the World might still have other options. The way how these headlines gives the impression that this case in universal, which clearly is not the case, would not have happened in Safe Network.

@TylerAbeoJordan you are in Australia? What payment options are available there? EDIT: You don’t need to register to find this out, it is enough to click “register”, and the options are shown soon after that.

How is the rest of the World?

I just looked for you… I mean read  read only with a blindfold on of course.

Anyway crypto is the only option in the US.

I also found this interesting little snippet.

The Pornhub Content Partner Program has a global reach of over 100 million daily users with world-leading, high-quality adult traffic and has been a proven program for hundreds of studios and content producers who take part. We have helped boost the branding and exposure of content partners from a variety of niches, turning our traffic into your earnings!

Seems that the internal economy will need to be powered by crypto now too, not just simple subscriptions… it could be much bigger than that.

Thanks! I’m so happy that my ask for help did not taint your clean, clean, clean soul.

Oh its wrecked now, I did think that there is something to be said about the group of us discussing the payment options and potential benefits to crypto adoption instead of why they were cut off by credit card companies… so clean souls, that is another discussion.

Well… yeah, but if this is the case, I don’t mind that much (source):

The swipe at other social media platforms is no accident. “It is clear that Pornhub is being targeted not because of our policies and how we compare to our peers, but because we are an adult content platform,” the company added. Citing Facebook’s transparency report, the company added, “Over the last three years, Facebook self-reported 84 million instances of child sexual abuse material. During that same period, the independent, third-party Internet Watch Foundation reported 118 incidents on Pornhub. That is still 118 too many, which is why we are committed to taking every necessary action.”

Though I can imagine most of this is some innocent images from cultures that are not so oversensitive to children nudity, like for example some finnish people posting images of naked kids playing in the lake between sauna sessions. I guess Pornhubs material is more probably actual porn.

I dont know how the line gets drawn, but I am sure there were some legitimate issues.
Another issue could be age of consent, what is not child porn in Europe could constitute it here.
I believe it is 16 for the most part in Europe right? 18 in the US, so a big problem in that alone.

I stand to be corrected though?

Age of consent is 16 in UK, but you cant do porn till 18.

Ahh, I was not aware of that.

Maybe useful for sharing data between Safe apps that may store similar data, but with a different structure or different naming for things.
