What’s up today? (Part 1)

Seeing Android running on an iPhone would be amusing. For those too lazy to read, this is an exploit that will allow jailbreaking, but requires physical access.

Not a complete hoax, but not entirely accurate either.

This is very good, about the ‘counterfeit capitalism’ of WeWork, Uber, Lyft, Netflix, Amazon etc - how it works, the damage it is doing and how to stop it:

Yes it’s very good.

Bird, the scooter company, is not making money. Uber and Lyft are similarly and systemically unprofitable. This model is catastrophic not just for individual companies, but for their competitors who have to make money. Amazon has created a much less competitive and brittle retail sector. Netflix’s money-losing business is ruining Hollywood.

Endless money-losing is a variant of counterfeiting, and counterfeiting has dangerous economic consequences.

The people that do the work in organizations are increasingly excluded from the decision-making about the work.

I once worked for a company that dabbled in, among other things, software and language technology. I was one of the (computational) linguists. The management were all based in another city but came to visit our office every once in a while. We were going out for beers and, while waiting for a taxi, the CEO decided to make a little conversation with me. He started by asking me: “What is this “testing” stuff you all keep nagging about?” I didn’t really know what to say…

I could tell you some other pretty scary stories about this work experience, but I’d better not.
Honest fishermen (and of course chickens) FTW! :chicken:

DeGoogling YouTube: Invidious lets you watch YouTube videos without ads and with more privacy.

Invidious acts as an intermediary between you and YouTube and plays videos without JavaScript. This also means privacy, that is Google will not be able to record you!

Thanks to a Firefox addon, we can automatically change all youtube link to invidious instead, even the embed ones on webpages and social media!

https://invidio.us/

I’m trying it out at the moment with the recommended Firefox plugin. Seems to work!

Elizabeth Warren maybe wants (if she becomes president) to break up big tech companies like Facebook, Microsoft, Google and Amazon. Zuckerberg (and Bill Gates) don’t agree of course.

Interesting discussion about what happens when you push any one part of input/output to an extreme (in this case NIC)

Nano currency is going to use new kind of PoW instead some kind of version blake-2b to increase antispam security. As SafeNetwork have also free transactions it might be good tool to protect network if spam will be issue. The main target was reduce transactions per second on high powerful HW like ASIC servers, but remain easy to solve on mobile and office desktop.

Edit: Add point of attack
