What’s up today? (Part 1)

r.i.p Jessica Fletcher :female_detective:

If you think that if extradited Assange “risks a prison sentence” you’ve managed to entirely avoid facing up to the reality of the situation. Which, of course, is totally easy and effortless, after years of subtle but very persistent media bias. You almost couldn’t not think it.

The reality is that for over ten years already it’s been extralegal pretrial punishment in the form of torture and other human rights abuses of a journalist, and if extradited, it’s kangaroo courts, denial of more basic human rights, and more genuine torture, with a very high likelihood.

If you were consciously euphemising it would be obscene, but I guess you weren’t. So there’s the reality, in case you wish to look at it. I recommend the book of Nils Melzer, the former UN rapporteur on torture, as the authorative legal examination of the case:

Adam Curtis has another documentary series, Trauma Zone that draws parallels between what happened in Russia since the Soviet collapse and worryingly draws parallels between the hyper-capitalism there and the ideology of the current UK government.

It’s very interesting to see the origins of what he calls these experiments as in technocratic movements, of scientific overreach, attempting to improve on political systems by making them more rational. But ending up creating chaos which rapidly impoverishes everyone but tiny elites. [gulp]

Movements from Stalin to the US ‘technate’ and now Trussonomics.

Fascinating article with link to the documentary series. Even Musk’s grandfather gets a mention :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::

Do any of you space tech followers know why this is suddenly viable and wasn’t previously?

Imagine if they declassified everything that was possible… the UK would be the home of innovation overnight? :octopus:

tax breaks or perhaps this thin end of a very insidious wedge?

"For the next few weeks, the area around the spaceport will be officially designated US territory. Security has been stepped up.

Its not just sufficient for the English to colonise Kernow, now they are giving bits of it away to their masters… Whats the Cornish for “Yankee Go Home”?

Im actually annoyed at this thread cos its keeping me away from
a) OTLP
b) DBC footering and scripts to send/receive funds between thousands of “accounts”
c) converting the above to use node or even tauri/svelte
d) worrying that I am wasting time on C cos the API is coming Real Soon Now
e) actual paying work

In the meantime, try to reproduce this…

Thats on an old 4GB RAM HP workstation I use mainly as a backup box but I’d like a long(ish)-running safe instance that I am not having to close down and restart every time I change the OTLP configuration. It works as expected on the BigBox (gagarin)

Yeah, I didn’t follow this but a billion dollars seems a little over the top especially since he doesn’t even appear to have it.

Ever since the Ledger leak (I was one of the fortunate guys to have my details shared with the world) I have been spammed incessantly.

Today however, I got a phone call from a very well spoken scammer, knew my full name.
Apparently I spoke to his colleague a few months ago at ARK invest (bs I don’t talk to anyone about crypto) just wanted to know how the market is treating me and what coins I currently hold.

WTF that is a whole new level.
