What’s up today? (Part 1)

How bad is the coming food crisis? It’s so bad that even the Coin Bureau has made a video on it today:

It’s COMING!! A Global Crisis Which Affects Us ALL!! :cold_sweat:

Criminals do what they want without regard for others.

its previous clients include the Metropolitan Police, the Ministry of Defence, and the National Crime Agency. However, its entire database of 20 billion images, which inevitably includes UK residents, will still be available to those it works with in other countries.

 You can always rely on the Daily Mail to have its finger on the pulse of the nation and produce solid analysis that will stand the test of time.

Unlikely to be a big issue more than a series of managed events but highlights again the risk of having an internet reliant on ISPs… and perhaps the way that robust networking takes time to evolve, though events.

Say what you want but UK behaviour is odd where they should be representing our better interests …too often at odds with justice and truth.

Hopefully common sense will rule but Pritti Patel

Having learned we can’t trust Duck Duck Go what to use? See replies to thread:

TL;DR: Startpage with EU servers

To use Startpage search in Firefox:

Settings > Search > Other > Add

Use Search string:

https://www.startpage.com/sp/search?query=%s

To set EU servers visit Startpage.com > Settings and scroll down a fair bit. The default is nearest servers but you can override that.

Startpage has been my first choice for a few years now. It uses Google but obfuscates everything so Google can’t see it. Not 100% sure about them, they’ve made a few dubious moves in the past and I’m not sure quite how they make their money (can search ads be enough?), but probably the best alternative. I like MetaGer too.

For more on Startpage read the comments to the tweet above and Alexander’s replies. His word is good. See the thread, particularly these two responses from Alexander, though there’s more:

No privacy on the normal internet is just understood…

CEO Gabriel Weinberg essentially shrugged… he ‘never promised’ anonymity when browsing.

Where is this picture from, and what makes it “Bulgarian”?

This infographic is distributed in Bulgarian crypto groups from the Sofia Crypto Meatup community.

For projects that are not obviously Bulgarian, I guess the criterion is to have employees in the country (for example, crypto.com has 4-5 thousand employees in Sofia).

The person who has suggested the Safe network (not me) for the infographic obviously thinks that there are project employees here or they just know that the Bulgarian Safe community is one of the most active. I have no idea why they would think such a thing :19eddyjohn75:
