but yes, some fancy pants graphics would be nice. I’m not sure what the content would be aside from a basic explanation of what the network is. IMO, the Safe Network is going to take nearly everyone by surprise. I like the idea that it will spread in a natural grassroots way as opposed to some heavy marketing - not that I mind some nice marketing … I just think that with what is on offer, it’s going to explode once it’s released and not much marketing will be needed.

I just hope the Maidsafe team will be ready for the media pressure when it all happens.

The uncensored, new media, on SAFEnetwork will love it.

I think that it is good to start marketing after at least Flemming.

Because we maybe check the routing + PARSEC work well.

(But PARSEC, routing, C.rust working well togather, why we need marketing? haha)

@Zoki, this is more suited for the topic Recent questions about SAFE's societal implications and not so much about a high quality marketing video

This has not really happened for NNTP nor bittorrent, nor facebook (EDIT: nor youtube) etc and all those attacked the media giants so why here, and for that reason this a just one scare campaign that may happen in a little way, so take it to the topic for this negative promotion by people/media. There is a lot of discussions there about that

All those references were mere blimps and the overall reactions by media etc were overwhelmed by the benefits seen by the major majority

Yep, it’s kind of epic video. That’s why i like it. They already got 11K view and 1k likes. Maybe the community and Maidsafe team should prepare. For the subtitles for example on the video. As we will have to translate to many languages.

I think the audible portion of the video is clearly the most impressive. The animation and accompanying visual imagery are almost nauseatingly generic.

Everybody is selling freedom nowadays. I think Maidsafe would stand out more by selling security, privacy, data ownership, permanent storage… - but most of all security.

I has similar thoughts when I saw the IOTA video yesterday. I think I prefer the Elastic one more although the IOTA one specifically talks about its technical achievement.

I know a lot of people that wouldn’t see it that way. To me it seems like a very large portion of people on the contrary would see that video and feel “hey, it looks like other successful stuff, that’s comforting”.
Some of the people I know who would think that video is awesome, I would also think are very “normal”, not artist-level of imagination and so on. But that should also be true for a very large portion of the world.

So, since I know the network needs and benefits from having everyone use it, how do I feel about the marketing material?
Naturally, whatever brings people in, is good - I don’t care if it pleases me personally.

Instead of producing a certain type of marketing, that pleases the current niche group of pioneers, it’d IMO be much better to vary the style. Cover it all. Be normal, be arty, be techy, be elite, be folksy. … everything you can think of (not in the same video).

Edit: (well, if the time comes where video marketing seems necessary)

Yes I agree. It’s the combination of the voice, the music, the sounds effects, the animations, the rhythm which accelerate from the beginning to the end. The video is quite short, easy to watch and looks like a good movie trailer.

When I watched this video, even if I don’t know shit about IOTA, I was like “Oh what they did looks amazing”, and then I start to research about IOTA, read articles, go on their discord, etc. They basically “convert” me. Because after viewing the video i wanted to know more about it and will probably become a community member.

This effect one me is quite impressive, because even if it can be a minor update, they make it looks EPIC. This can be used to convert viewers to community member.

EDIT: Sorry for the poor english, still learning it.

I think the visual aspect could have been a lot better but I will concede that they definitely nailed the epic feel. Would love to see videos with that level of intensity produced for SAFE.

I just watched it. Tbh, I thought it wasn’t great and I prefer some of the maidsafe vids.

All these buss-words without any true meaning are a real turn-off for me personally. I hope Maidsafe can stick to factual information in its “marketing” rather than pure advertising. But maybe I’m just different.
