(Reuters) - Google Inc’s Gmail was blocked in China after months of disruptions to the world’s biggest email service, with an anti-censorship advocate suggesting the Great Firewall was to blame.

Large numbers of Gmail web addresses were cut off in China on Friday, said GreatFire.org, a China-based freedom of speech advocacy group. Users said the service was still down on Monday.

So I guess those who want to communicate freely on the planet or perhaps even in the world from China can soon use SAFE Network, and not risk being blocked anymore…

Assuming we can get the software to them and assuming they can get nodes set up.

I’m just a small town techno tinker, but it seems China could just being proactive towards their national security by keeping people from using NSA@gmail.com. Although they do take a similar stance (blocking) with TOR, which is probably evidence against that theory.

Tor use a centralized directory server. That is its Achilles heel. I think there is no way to block a real decentralized network once it grows large enough.

Cant wait for the SAFE deploy.
