Did you get through this book?

I’ve had it probably for about a decade, but I’ve not read it yet. I’ve always been quite intimidated by it, as I’ve heard it’s difficult (and I actually have another few books like that in my collection, e.g., ‘Reasons and Persons’ by Derek Parfit).

Might post some of my own favourites later.

That was about 10 years ago…yes

I’d say, don’t be! Sure there are some tough mathematical passages, but the overall concept, the intertwinement of mathematics, art (beauty? simmetry?) and intelligence, can be grasped even without fully undestanding those passages. And it’s worth it even just for the delightful discoursive dialogue parts…
Makes me feel like reading it again…
Fritjof Capra’s The Tao of Physics is the only other book that gave me such an mind opening experience…

Cool, thanks. I might try and read it after my current batch or later this year. I’ve always been fascinated by Gödel’s incompleteness theorems, but only a popular science level, of course. I wish I could have the time and training to really understand them.
