Stable Droplet Test Network

Slowwww in Australia and a pretty ordinary image whilst eating dinner :slight_smile:

I was under the impression you could set these droplets up in a CDN style configā€¦maybe these oneā€™s are all in one datacenter.

wahahahaha what a cool image!!! xD

This is awesome, was able to register, create a website and store private data! Still quite slow on my poor internet connection however a much much smoother responsive version/network than before

Forking or parallel code universes were needed to create SAFE. But these universes were in a kind of evolutionary resonance through their human bridges. It was revolution through evolution.

Ideas of privacy; security; and freedom, are persistent. Just add time.

Thank you very much for making these ressources available to us again, this was much hoped and is much appreciated !

I hope I make good use of this with : http://safe.share.safenet :slight_smile: POC : Introducing SafeShare, a file sharing and pasting webapp

advice please, trying to upload a site less than 5mb. error failed to create directory/public/mysite123
I have tried with several different sites, I am unable to see html files when using the demo app to upload sites.
Never had this issue before.

I just uploaded a site to check all it wellā€¦ and all is well.

What I did find is something new to meā€¦ that itā€™s possible to view the network without being logged in! If the launcher is running, then any.safenet is visible where a safe proxy is in place. That was a surprise but then I suppose that makes so much senseā€¦ SAFE is for everyone, even those without an account.

So, beyond that you might not have an account, or that you might be trying to upload against a directory that exists, I donā€™t know. If the error is failed to create directory, then that sounds like the directory exists. [Manage Websites].[Create New] should allow you to select a folder that has the index.html and other files that then become the serviceyouname.publicid.safenet

@Josh I just had that error trying to refresh the directoryā€¦ but that account was the one Iā€™d put a lot of data to. So, unclear to me if the issue is that data deleted counts towards the balance. Still, I didnā€™t think Iā€™d put 100MBā€¦ but perhaps I did.

So, I couldnā€™t then upload and having deleted the directory could not recreate itā€¦ by upload or by creating the service again.

Error was

ERROR 12:15:27.593943954 [safe_core::ffi mod.rs:302]

 --------------------------------------------------
| FfiError::NfsError -> NfsError::CoreError -> Low account balanceCoreError::MutationFailure::{ reason: LowBalance, data_id: Structured(83303a.., 15101)}

So, directory Iā€™ve moved now to http://dir.random.safenet and http://a.random.safenet excludes defaults and hello worlds so that it might be more interesting.

Thanks @davidpbrown it all started with my freshly created account. I tried to upload the very first site to it at 3.7mb it failed about 90% into the upload. I was then unable to restart it or any other new directories. I will try with a fresh account this am.

hmhmmm - did i miss the sharing webapp? http://safe.share.safenet/

Thanks for spotting that. My badā€¦ took a bit of code out and broke the chain. Iā€™ll fix and update.

I played with using scripts from different places on the Network, turned out it works:

http://marble.play.safenet/

uses jquery and D3 scripts I hosted at

http://js.best.safenet/

I will see how to combine different services to build a better music player.

I wonder there is an issue for user experience, following dust that can be created by failure, which then prevents a user fixing any fragments of failed creation of accounts or upload.

:bug: Failure to create publicID; directory; or file, doesnā€™t allow retry.

Beyond that, my experience of this Stable Droplet network has been really good. No other issues to report. :slight_smile:

I just now logged into the account for http://test.bluebird2.safenet after an interval of five days and the website came straight up. So thatā€™s very strong evidence for an improvement in data retention with this version of the vault.

To which I shall add that beyond not losing any of my accounts, Iā€™ve also not seen any issue with any website.

A thought occurred about the nature of the beastā€¦ that I wonder is worth putting out thereā€¦

Building a network that can work, is something; building a network that cannot fail, is another.

So, understanding the real limit of the networkā€™s ability to meet challenges, and different types of challenge, is important. Obviously that is where the testing in different ways, becomes most important.

Such questions to be resolved then as: Does the network properly accommodate ā€˜neverā€™ events?.. where those events do occur what error does the user see? Are the limits of the network declared? Is the user aware of the state of their data?.. eg dust that isnā€™t obvious, getting in the way; failed uploads etcā€¦ does the validation work and make apparent the state of data? Where there is failure, how is that managed? - considering an event where each element fails, how do the otherā€™s respond? etc

These are interesting problems and I am very impressed at how well Maidsafe is approaching all this.
