SAFE Network - TEST 7

You can’t run your own Vaults. Vaults are runned by Maidsafe on droplets. We have to wait until they release new one for us all. But they want to test the front-end first.

I think as mentioned by @polpolrene vault binaries weren’t provided for the updated network from yesterday, that makes me wonder abt the screenshots, did you download the binaries for launcher again after it was updated?

for launcher you’re looking for v0.7.1 and not v0.7.0

Download URL for Launcher v0.7.1

That screenshot UI for demo app is from an older version of demo app btw. Maybe try with Demo App v0.5.1 and also Launcher v0.7.1

Doh! I’m so super sorry for this, I was using Launcher v0.7.0, I skipped the part that I should use v0.7.1.

The next time I pull a stunt like this I’ll send 1000 Maidsafecoins to Maidsafe. Jeez devs don’t got time for this, really sorry. Things are really moving at breakneckspeed.

Man, what can I say? “You’ve come a long way baby!” This is awesome guys. I love the new UI. I love the speed. It really is working much faster than at the beginning of the year. So, I want to dedicate this comment to people like @Natalie_Bertoncello, and other skeptics. Your posts were appreciated because they brought a critical light to this great project; however, it is clear that they were off the mark. Not just the above poster, but all who doubted that real work was going on, or that progress was being made, or even insinuated that there was some sort of impropriety. Thank you for providing the other side of the discussion, but it should be clear to all now that this rocket ship is fueled and ready for launch! T-10, 9, 8…Your patience and ours is being dutifully rewarded, clearly. So, I look forward to the future success of this AMAZING project.

A question, I know this has been asked before. But I’m asking again. I read the replies and wasn’t quite sure of the answer. Here it is, can we use node.js to access files on the network like a server? I know we’re all about removing the server here, but I’m wondering what are the limitations on safe as compared to the clearnet. After viewing some of these pages, I feel like there aren’t many, but I wonder if we could replicate 100% clearnet functionality here on the safenetwork.

One simple improvement would be a more useful friendly error messages for HTTP:404 and HTTP:400.
I wonder if a subdomain doesn’t exist stumbled on from a mistype for example, the error should not be:

{“errorCode”:-1004,“description”:“DnsError::ServiceNotFound”}

but instead something like:

HTTP: 404 Not Found

Click here to try instead http://PublicID.safenet

and for PublicID.safenet that doesn’t exist

HTTP Error 400 Bad request

I wonder, the logs are not summing the messages to a conclusion or otherwise some odd repeat request is occurring… see below many ‘In Progress’, after the browser was closed and requests would have stopped. I don’t have the detail to be sure what happened there and perhaps a known issue.

Just had time to try out test7b and it is surprisingly brisk! The launcher is looking good too! It is definitely coming together nicely.

Lazy Dog is back! http://blog.traktion.safenet/

Launcher on OSX 10.9.5 seems to have some issue over time , it blanks out and reloading the view briefly makes reappear the initial screen but then it blanks immediately out again .
I quit it . Restarting does not solve the issue , after a second it blanks out …

worked flawlessly for me on windows, web page load was super fast?(how is it so fast?) I like the launcher the way it is with the long pw’s and the demo app with the method of publishing dir’s as websites, that is totally brill!

Launcher works again , after kicking out all SAFE Launcher Helper instances using the OSX Activity Monitor . It’s not the first app that gets into trouble with those helper instances — going bad after a while ; some kind of buffer overflow ?

just wanted to mention i 100% love your site and that you re-upload it again and again =) :hugging:

I have a question, if the box in the corner of the launcher tells you your data size info for that session is there going to be somewhere that gives you a total of your space somewhere?

I just tested the launcher upload and download a bit and it was all fine, super fast upload and download.

cheers
Al

I would say the Total Data Upload is the total of your uploaded space, but if you mean if you can see how much space you got in total to still upload, that’s determined by the amount of SAFEcoins you’ll have and the cost to upload, at least that’s what I think.

I have made up with CSP (for now) please forgive my little moan.

This works fine on a good wired connection, it has issues on WIFI.
Slight lag between scenes but any length/size video can be uploaded if you have the inclination to do so.

@000 Close Launcher, then open activity monitor in utilities and find something running with Launcher in the title. I found Launcher Helper running, you select it, then hit the X button on top left of activity monitor. Open Launcher again and you should be good. Let me know if that works for you.

Edit: sorry only saw your first post, I had the same problem and David asked if I had any instances running which led me to that solution

haha, thanks, but unfortunately there is something wrong with the video, none of the sites that has video can be downloaded through http.
Downloading it through the demo app works fine though

yes , all fine , thanks anyway

They work fine including that one suggested but you need to allow scripts. If you’ve got adblock or better noscript, then enable the site and retry.
