SAFE Network Client Testing Commences

It is working on debian.

EDIT: I found I just have to be gentle with it

well it’s not working on my end. I got ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 So I dunno.

Are there plans to have the private safe ‘drive’ mounted as a networked filesystem on a linux host ?

yes there is a repo set up but no work yet. Will use FUSE on os/x and linux and likely cfbs on windows.

How do you know pac file url? david didn’t explain that in the vid.

Also how do you guys upload files? I only managed to open launcher, it reminds me a bit about tor with the .safenet andsmall windows saying you are connected to safe network

Anyway if someone can help would be great

https://maidsafe.readme.io/v1.0/docs/launcher <<< in the docs for the launcher the proxy stuff is mentioned :slightly_smiling: (and explained in detail)

uploading files with the demo app https://maidsafe.readme.io/v1.0/docs/install-demo-app

It’s in the launcher documentation:

http://visualiser.maidsafe.net/safe_proxy.pac

With the proxy set up, and if you are logged onto the network, you should be able to visit the URLs people have published above (such as http://the.safewebring.safenet).

To upload files yourself, start the maidsafe_demo_app and follow the app documentation.

Good luck. Post more questions when you get stuck.

I have downloaded this file and saved it in my pictures, but now i am trying to locate the actual url, ( even david said he had some issue with this)

thanks for your help

The ease of putting a website on the network will be a real game changer

You don’t need to download the .pac file, at least in Firefox you can paste the URL into the “Automatic” setting (near he bottom of the proxy setup options).

That’s my problem, i don’t know what the url is

Has anyone succeeded in logging into an existing account?

Every time I’ve tried it has failed, so I keep registering a new account, which is a pain!

this works fine here, I created a single account and logged in 3 times

Me too , only created one account and logged maybe ten times in this evening.without problems… recalling files etc…

Yes, I can log in, quit the program and login back again

Strange - your comment made me try “just one more time” and it worked.

I think there is unreliability in the system somewhere! :slightly_smiling:

EDIT: but it says “No services registered” so still not right…
