Did you figure it out yet? I tried with a VPN through Thailand and it seems fine here/through that. Maybe you want to try a VPN through a different location. Can only imagine local DNS proxies messing up ā¦

The beaker SAFEbrowser poc already allows you to browse without the proxy (not tested with alpha yet, though. YMMV). Although (for now) you need to compile and rebuild it etc (which is a pain, I understand).
Iām going to look at updating the POC soon, which should enable compilation (at least for OSX) so accessing SAFE sans proxy will become actually accessible. Then we can start to look at dropping this .safenet lark!

will this alpha run all the way until beta drops or will it close soon?
There will be at least 3 Alpha releases, not weekly, much more every 6 weeks or so, we are not sure yet. Alpha 1 will allow us to set up the release schedule though.

I am not sure, the guys will probably check that all on Monday, perhaps we should include this in the dev update actually.

Thanks for that update. Do you think you will turn on the vaults for public use this year? - if you had to guess ? - or is this on track for next year some time?
I will be developing a website for when safenet launches.@polpolrene: lets say a big time exchange wants to use safenet once it launches, will it be easy to port an existing site like Poloniex over to Poloniex.safe ?

I really donāt know. Have to move from SQL database to the SAFE protocol with itās addresses. Polo is quite active and āliveā with updating charts. Static websites are probably more easy, but the dynamic ones should work as well.

I installed on Ubuntu the safe launcher and the demo app.
How do I launch it? I donāt see any link on my menu (the install didnāt create any start links).
Do i need to start it via command line?
Type in shell :
safe_launcher or safe_demo_app if you followed the apt-get procedure.
