The SAFE Messages (email) DApp is an example DApp which showcases how to use the MaidSafe.SafeApp NuGet to build a simple email application for mobile devices.

Pre-requisites:

Download & Installation

Please Note: existing IDs will not show and you will need to create a new ID.

Alpha network access

It’s important to ensure you’ve registered your IP address in order to access the SAFE Network (Alpha-2). If you haven’t already then here’s how you do that:

  • Log in to the Forum on your normal browser (you’ll need to have Basic Trust Level 1).
  • Visit https://invite.maidsafe.net.
  • Click on the SAFE Network logo.
  • Select ‘Alpha 2’.
  • Update your registered IP (if it doesn’t match the Current IP listed)
  • Copy and paste the invitation token into the Invitation field on the Authenticator.
    • this step is only required when creating an account to begin with.

Thank you!

I can be messaged at zoki2 on the app
I tried to add my original zoki identification buy the app errors out.

Authenticated well. Authenticator on Android popped up, remembers my password. Very easy to get logged in.

With my openVPN ‘static ip address’ while I roam the planet. Even in this alpha stage … this is a functioning and usefully app.

“SAFENetwork has functioning and secure messaging App”. This is worthy of headline news in the crypto press.

Woooo :champagne::champagne:

Edit: Someone please message me.

Look how beautifully the authenticator displays the messaging app amongst others. So beautiful.

The road has been opened up for many more mobile apps.
Anyone want to release Candy Crypto Crush ?

I also had the ‘Create Id Failed: Id already exists’ message, what I expected because of previous tests a while back with ‘draw’, so User Id is now ‘bedraw’.

Can we make this a Wiki post so we can add email ids to the bottom? @JPL

Good idea. A job for an Admin I think. I can’t see that option.

Initially this app was a mobile version of the desktop EmailApp which is crrently deperecated. Due to differences in the implementations, they were not fully compatible with each other.

  • So none of the ID created using the desktop EmailApp can be reused here.
  • Also to note, publicIDs created cannot be used.

I’ve just made the OP a Wiki (you can do that for every post as moderator: click on the :wrench: symbol below the post…).

Deep coolness - just sent a test msg to zoki2

I just edited the OP to add a section for known Safe Message IDs

I was turning my VPN off and rejoining my home WiFi at the time. Closed the error, app reconnected and works fine.

Really great work @maidsafe with the messaging app. This thing really works turbo…

@Zoki
I just got the same crash report  (unfortunately I can’t seem to copy the text and can’t really id what caused it).

Congratulations @maidsafe ! This is great to see such releases coming out

I also wanted to point out the fact that you do provide the android APK instead of putting it on a jailed app source :+1:

Hi @Zoki the crash report sounds like it was due to the app being disconnected from the internet - see known issue here https://github.com/maidsafe/safe-email-app-csharp/issues/32

This is the error you get if you try to guess IDs wrongly

I was guessing that @happybeing had set himself up as “happybeing” - Seems not
