Redlands “Enterprise” smart city

Hi Mark

I hope the following summary will help with the lay of the land for the questions and the Redland proposal to assist building a shared understanding and path forward for this “route”

In response to your Tim BL “I have a system dream” post I made the comment that "IMO progressing the safeplume demo is the strategic and systemic path of greatest leverage for both the Solid and Safe vision and path to market so i. it needs to be funded and ii. built in an open data model context described, with a Codemap product/prototype, the tools, context. So how do we fund this? Who would have the greatest interest/benefit in making an contribution and support our transition to the new open data ecology and circular economy/democracy vision as per Tim’s dream?"

So where do we start?

The Redland “Enterprise” smart city proposal has been designed as a product/prototype, to capture the tools, in context combined with a collective funding method to support the safeplume next steps as follows;

i. We need to build in an open data model context described above, with a Codemap product/prototype, the tools, context.

a. Prototype
The Redland “Enterprise” smart city proposal is an design example of a “closed loop automation/Codemap product solution”. A Codemap is a methodology to bring multiple stakeholders together to create mutual asset pools within a decentralised autonomous network. Codemap stands for CommunityLink Open data ecology mutual asset pool. We (ULBH) have designed the Redland smart city CODEMAP proposal as the initial product application of our methodology to illustrate how it creates a practical, leveraged commercial opportunity which is built on solid and safe.

As per my comment to your DevCon Tim lecture post we need a practical opportunity to be able to place some ODE interlinks between some proprietal data. The Redland proposal creates a Codemap “microworld” to bring IOT supplier, Industry Access and regional Access ODE (solid & enterprise safe hubs), Community Development centre, Council & residents (Personal residents account/UIA) to test this and capture generic template for others.

b. Tools
We have established the CommunityLink site (using solid as the template) to illustrate how we see the proposed set of ODE CL solid safe conventions will work to support Redlands as a showcase. This also includes a link to the fledgling Project CL github repository to illustrate how i. we secure and integrate the Core licenses, ii. manage the Redland project build and iii. how other self-organising communities can engage to secure the license, co dev partners and funding for their “Enterprise” solution.

c. Context
Within the “connecting proprietal data for the common good” context the purpose of the Redland proposal is to act as the catalyst to formally commence “the endeavour to bring together the brightest minds from business, technology, government, civil society, the arts, and academia” around a practical starting point to establish an ODE CL solid safe system, secure invest & govt grant dollars and to build the proof of concept testnet.

ii. It needs to be funded

a. ULBH is a System Designer/Developer (Bus systems not IT dev). We are working to establish the Social Capital Investment Trust (SCIT) Collective Investment vehicle which has a unique Integrated Portfolio design to fund the Redland proposal and CommunityLink solid safe ODE system as a Lighthouse project. A key objective of the SCIT is to create an public funding pool (from system efficiencies created) for communities to access and to fund the project/system roll out globally.

We see a 4 stage Co phase dev along the lines of

  • Co Phase 1IOC to raise $250k investment to support SCIT $250K grant application– July 3 deadline for grant application
The ideal is to secure contributions from core system stakeholders who will most profit…

  • Co phase 2POC build – testnet between proprietal (IOT suppliers & Council) and connecting ODE hubs…
The $250K investment funds will go to addressing the questions raised starting with defining that gaps between the safeplume path/roadmap you tabled and the required Redland proposal functionality then to build the testnet.

  • Co phase 3 – Early stage commercialisation
This will need to align with the safe Alpha 3 & 4 stages.

  • Co phase 4 – Industrial Deployment

iii. My earlier questions
Hopefully this frames where I am coming from with my questions. Please let me know of any gaps or issues you may see.
