Project Decorum - Crowdsale (Ended)

You can always backup the private keys and be in charge of protecting them yourself. And use the offline Omniwallet client.

Seneca where are you?

Project Decorum will make use of agile development, so I can’t give a detailed road map. The goal is to get a functional product on the “real” SAFE Network as soon as possible, and improve it iteratively. The functionality of the proof of concept will be improved and implemented first, after that the focus will be on social circles, the web of trust, and Clike endorsements.

I can’t give any estimates on the PDC->Clike exchange, also because it depends on SAFE’s development, which is quite unpredictable.[quote=“CryptoSky, post:269, topic:8474”]
or just trade them on exchanges?

Hopefully shortly after the end of the crowdsale.

and do you use some escrow in collecting funds? sry for being so interested but i want to get some info in what i invest  directly from developer. thanks for this answers

No, no escrow. (filler)

good that you are honest

FYI: If you use a tool like Pivotal Tracker (or something similar) and track story complexity you should be able to get a pretty good velocity figured out (as you input more data) and with that be able to put milestones into time buckets. We use it at work and it’s very helpful. We are 80-100% on target each month when we report (using weekly iterations).

Edit: price is free for Open Source project I do believe… ?

The fact that no one has been asking for escrow speaks volumes imo. It’s usually in every other post on a crowdsale thread if it isn’t being used. He’s raised north of half a million bucks for something on an unproven network and no one has even considered asking for escrow that I’ve noticed.

The trust is unwavering, the idea is brilliant and the potential is huge! That much should be clear at least from the numbers. I did not expect everyone else to be as smart as me and lump huge on this project! Great for decorum, not so great for roi, I’ll deal…

I don’t see anything at this point that could prevent it.

Is this Project/ Crowdsale the way forward instead of the concept of POD’s I wonder. If Maidsafe gets some solid funding and partnerships/ associations happening, hosting incubators for the best ideas could be good for knowledge transfer.

I’m thinking under the same roof ala Rackspace, multiple SAFE projects coexisting working on Apps and Core…sponsored at physical locations.

The concept of POD’s seems somewhat isolated to me…the focus is/was to be on Core mainly I think?

That is a great idea / perspective. It seems like what has been happening organically anyway.

Just from my experience from our SF SAFE Pod, which has kind if fallen off as people have been getting busy with other things (Daniel with SAFEx, me with SASC, see?? And Paige with MaidSafe things on the east coast), it seems that largely funded apps (escrow based on deliverables would be best) could really attract crowds and create pods that could sustain themselves financially (which was always a problem for the pods).

It also gives people a real for-profit incentive to stay at it and keep coming back regularly (working on a successful SAFE App to earn SafeCoin rewards).

I could definitely see this idea taking off! And am trying with the SAFE App store with outreach etc, even though there’s not enough to get a building going etc (for now… Hopefully that radically changes once all these active App projects can start earning SafeCoin!).

I got confused and used my Coinbase Wallet to transfer for the crowdsale. Please advise what I should do. Is this going to be a problem? thanks

OmniWallet keeps giving me the same error message “Error preparing transaction”. Trying to send to crowdfund for Project Decorum.

Have tried, as suggested in some threads, to restart browser, computer, try different browser, increase fees etc. No luck. Any ideas?

Thank you.

You need your private key. I don’t know if they support you in downloading your own private keys. I think they don’t. So I think you can’t access the Decorum tokens. That’s no fun.

Is there any way of getting my btc back. Its a shame that this process is not made a bit easier, since I am not the only person who made this mistake. So, If I had used a wallet like omni then I would not have had a problem??

It might be possible with this feature:

https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/1526413-how-do-i-sign-a-message-with-a-bitcoin-address-

You’d have to prepare a transaction using Omni and then sign it with that feature, then submit it to the blockchain. I’ll check later today if I can find exactly how.

This is just how these crowdfunds work. The devs/project chooses a system like Counterparty or Omni, create coins and put a warning on their website.

Not to blame you in any way, because I’ve seen this problem occur at several projects the last few years, but for the devs it’s a way to do a crowdfund. Creating 100 million coins for example on Counterparty can be quite easy. But after that you need a way to send them to all your users, even if 2500 people were involved in the crowdsale. And with Counterparty the same problem shows up. People send coins from an address they don’t own the private keys for.

So if I join a project on Counterparty I use a Counterwallet. If I join a project on Omni I use an Omniwallet. These wallets can’t get your coins (as long as the code provided on their websites is okay) so that way you should be good. A safer option is to keep them at home in a Bitcoin client. But you need to know how to export your private key to do that.

It’s all a bit messy with all these coins and wallets and crowdfunds but it is a way that works for projects. Next time just ask here if you’re in doubt. I hope Seneca can help you out. And let’s hope that SAFE will provide a more easy way to create coins and do crowdfunds.
