Yep! Didn’t get the dir structure correct. Should be good now.

PSA - SAFE-only firefox profile with proxy setup

  1. execute firefox -P to pull up your profiles
  2. create new profile (I called mine ‘maidsafe’)
  3. deselect “autostart this profile everytime I launch”
  4. install foxyproxy basic from about:addons (search for it)
  5. restart firefox using firefox -P and ‘maidsafe’ profile (can do it from the command line launcher Alt-f2 if you don’t want to use the command line)
  6. click on the fox’s face next to the url bar
  7. click ‘add new proxy’
  8. enable ‘automatic proxy configuration’
  9. paste http://visualiser.maidsafe.net/safe_proxy.pac into ‘proxy configuration url’
  10. in “general” set name of proxy (I set mine to “maidsafe”…see a trend here?)
  11. ‘select mode’: ‘use proxy “maidsafe” for all url’s’

The music does work. You just have to wait for it to load.

I just copied http://gugl.safenet/

But my image is coming directly from the current internet IPFS.pics

Yeah I’m trying to find ways to cut on costs of hosting data on the SAFE Network or just IPFS, I guess :stuck_out_tongue:

Haven’t really run into anything yet, but just a reminder that while this is an unmoderated Network(!), the forums do have the ability to censor links that go against the community guidelines.

Thank you all for your participation in this - what I hope will become a - historic event.

Beware the ides of march. And the mods of… February…

How does someone pick an url? And when doing so is that url taken forever?

Sry for asking such a stupid question, couldn’t find the answer with search

the url is the name of the service and the public_id you pick in the maidsafe demo app

e.g.

www.gugle.safenet (“www” being the service, “gugle” the public_id)
2048.scott.safenet (“2048” being the service, “scott” the public_id)

As the network is in testing phase urls are not permanent.

Yay it worked initially! I then firedup a second Firefox using my default profile and then it stopped working. I get a "
FoxyProxy: Preventing cyclical PAC error; using no proxy to load PAC file." in the LinuxMint terminal

Anyone have any ideas? I couldnt figure it out googling.

I had no problems using firefox with multiple tabs or windows (I’m using LMDE / Linux Mint Debian Edition).

Don’t know if it matters, but I start new windows within firefox (Ctrl-N). Might be different if you kick off second window from the console, so try Ctrl-N (or Ctrl-T).
