One File for the Price of Three: Catching Cheating Servers in Decentralized

They mention Maidsafe and imply that the SAFEnetwork doesn’t solve this problem, which in fact it will (subject to a working network). I’d like to know if the solution presented here can also deduplicate data - it seems unlikely (but I haven’t looked carefully) which would introduce a new inefficiency at the same time it is trying to reduce another.

For public data, what stops nodes from cheating and only pretending to store the data? It seems like they can simply relay a request to another node they know stores it.

Think about it - can you figure out how one vault can find another vault holding the same chunk and collude to only store that chunk once?
