Mediagoblin (or a clone) on SAFE

Sorry I misunderstood you I thought you meant everything should have no trust, but I think you’ll find we agree on a lot of stuff on the post just above yours and I would also like to add I think you are completely right in saying most if not all state services should be decentralized. But there is one small thing
Why would I trust a resturaunt I’d never heard of without a reputation system? Or any business for that matter?
Although you may not agree with me , sometimes(usually on holidays) I’ll go to places or restaurants that aren’t busy or have no customers that I never heard of (I know there is a big difference between a multinational bank and a small family run restaurant), I suppose a way to get around this is to plan everything out in advance or read reviews from a website like TripAdvisor, but for me that sort of eliminates the fun of a holiday.

True but usually small locally owned businesses still need to maintain reputation in order to stay afloat. In fact it may be even more competitive as people know exactly what you do and there’s always someone looking to take over your niche. Also as you mention part of the fun of doing such explorations is the risk involved of discovering new businesses. So compare a quite small local resturaunt who serves customers on a regular basis with some random corner market vender who just popped up out of no where, you don’t know exactly where they get their ingredients or what’s in the food, and who has no established reputation yet. Which is going to inspire more trust? Local businessmen have the added incentive to act reputable because people do end up knowing them and they do gain reputation both possitive and negetive and thus become liable. Compared with corporate multinationals that are faceless and have limited liability.

I agree completely, I’m not too sure we are able to debate anymore now :grinning:.

Please do a compare and contrast of Youtube and Stage6 to elucidate what was special about the latter.

Youtube censors, stage6 did not.
Youtube generally kicks off full length movies, stage6 did not.
Youtube has tons of annoying advertising and while stage6 did have some ads they weren’t in your face so much.

Also, Stage6 allowed porn and even some gore shit. So basically there was no censorship at all, I wonder if they would have remained like that if they survived their mismanaged incompetence from the board of DivX.
Oh btw, something else made Stage6 stand out at that time: it was DivX encoded with quality videos up to 1080p AND DOWNLOADABLE in a period where youtube’s max definition was 240p.

Which is why I think SAFE will make all the difference. It’ll bring back the best elements of the internet before the government started trying to regulate it to death.
