The changes in amount of maidsafecoins can also be people who are moving there own coins ( safer storage methods for example ), especially the 0 <-> 100

How many total coins are available to the public currently? I ask because I heard that a large portion of the issued shares are in the foundation.

Around 10% have been sold during the crowdsale (430 million). I believe that 5% of the safecoins (not maidsafecoins) will go to the early investors in Maidsafe from years ago, but besides that there aren’t any other safecoins that are already allocated to particular groups/people.
