I’m sure it will difficult to know if buying a different coin; the same time maid dropped 10% so did eth, and bts and fct; so could be just a cash out. That address was by an omnicoin purchase at the crowdsale, so it’s cool they make it rain on all the buy orders;
More advantageous would be to sell not in one shot of course.
Wouldn’t it be also more stupid? If you sell in one shot, you can take advantage of the more expensive regions of the order book, and if you buy in one shot, the same goes for the cheaper regions; you can’t do that if you buy or sell in small amounts.
If you sell over time piece by piece, you avoid panic selling by others. So you can exit your entire position at the more expensive region of the orderbook. The only pain is that it takes more time.
even a quick robot that clears the top of the orderbook when there is a good size would keep from dumping the price.
So dumping in one shot means some of your position you give up for cheaper than you could have if taking patience.
I’ll keep all this in mind for the time when I’m a big big whale who does this regularly

Last week I sold my remaining Ethereum that I bought at their crowdsale and bought extra MaidSafeCoin from the Bitcoins I got for it. Ethereum broke 0.031 XBT to spike towards 0.04 XBT after I sold, and Maid dropped 10% after I bought, but boy, was I smiling… It felt like the best decision I’ve made so far in my crypto career. Funny huh… Sometimes you’ve got that strong feeling that, against all logic and odds, you’ve done the right thing.
@stonesfever when you think of it, EVERYTHING is whale manipulation. Safe Network might change that a little, or maybe a lot. That’s at least my dream…

I happened to be around, trying to buy some MaidSafeCoin, and after that transferring it to my wallet. If I’m right it were two sales of 1,100 - 1,200 XBT worth of Maid, and one limit buy order of 379 XBT at 24400 satoshis that was being nibbled away till some 160-170 XBT was left, was gone in a split second too. I couldn’t help noticing it, since my last limit buy order was on 24500 satoshis, where I thought it was strategically placed just above the 379 XBT whale lol.
Over the weekend, when I was buying little batches of Maid here and there, and followed the orderbook several times a day, the first 1,100 XBT buy order jumped up and down the orderbook between 22000 and 25000 satoshis. At least that is what I noticed. The second big buy order, after the first one was fulfilled, appeared first at 17000 satoshis, but was pulled quickly and was fulfilled at a higher price. Probably around 20000 satoshis or a little higher at the bottom of the little crash. To make the trading fun complete at Poloniex, several waves of DDOS attacks started, which continued today I noticed.
I’m not sure what to think of all this. Probably two whales, one buying and one selling, using Poloniex as the exchange platform while negotiating on the phone? DDOS attacks unrelated to this, I guess?

Yeah, exactly. I was reading the Poloniex trollbox just for having a laugh this weekend, and it kinda surprised me how positive some traders were speaking about Maid. From ‘paradigm shift’ till ‘it will blow Ethereum away since it can do a lot more than Bitcoin and Ethereum combined’. Encouraging…
