There is no race to build a decentralized autonomous Network by the four major corporations who now control the internet.
Why?
Its not part of their business plan. And there are no crypto start-ups I know that are anywhere near catching up to MAIDSAFE.
When day trading, best to follow andyypants, and buy the worry dips. Hold and wait. Your reward is coming.

I don’t think a current major company is trying to because it would hurt their core and I also don’t think a crypto start up is on a path that can challenge what is being built by maidsafe. People aren’t that bright though and I could envision a scenario where a crypto startup builds something that or already is, that is accepted as “the standard” and that’s that. Not because it’s fully decentralized or the best but simply Bc it’s first to market. I mean at this point are we even sure that bitcoin is the “best”, it’s where it is because it was first and had a 5 year head start. That’s all I’m saying.
I have no interest in day trading, I’m in it for the haul.

I always thought why would a centralized exchange embrace a DEX. That goes against their model of charging fees on every trade. But Binance put one out a while back and now polo. I think what they figured is that the future is DEXs so lets at least encourage people to pick “our” DEX. I could see a big tech company likewise deciding decentralized data is the future, so its time to make our business plan fit with that.
Once we have our prototype with Fleming I think anyone else doing it just helps us. Get the idea out in the mainstream media then when people research it they find out hey we already got this dream network google is just proposing right now.

I think shifting business models is always part of any businesses growth. Go back to the mid 80’s when you had to call your stock broker on the phone and they would only place trades for you in dimes and quarters and take the spread. Then brokerages opened up that charged set fees for trades and at pennies. Now many brokerages have no fees for certain trades but make up money through margin, customers with large balances, shorting ect. I guess my point is in that situation you could see the evolution as technology and people changed. I think this is slightly different because for google or fb if they don’t have my data, they don’t have a model. How do they follow me? Give me suggestions of items to buy on amazon? Sell information to people who will pay top dollar? In my stock broker example they just finagled a new way to gain those fees, I’m not sure if you removed data as the lifeblood that the model holds up as time progresses.

well it could be their model is “decentralized data” ala farming from home type system… but the farming still sends data back to Amazon HQ so they know what to sell me. That might be the reason WHY they put out their own. At least if its theirs they can try to sneak in some limitations on privacy like that.
Yes @bones I mean the tron one. At least they make money when people buy TRX to trade on the DEX. Right now the volume is crap though… so I bought a bit on the theory 100M of investment can find a way to at least grow that market some lol.
I hope we’ll see a release before but honestly I won’t be surprised to see it around 2025… Come on guys they do a very great work but seeing the project velocity for the last year’s, you cannot except a release in 2020/2021.

we will see at least a release of a working prototype much sooner with Fleming. Sure I would give them another 5 years to polish it, but at that point they should have the runway if people are trying the prototype and investing in MAID…
Look at it this way, right now their runway is no where near 5 years with current MAID prices. So they either get something done sooner or never. The only way they end up with a nice long runway to make it to final version release is get something usable out soon and start growing a userbase.
