MaidSafe Dev Update - December 7, 2017

I also like the existing names but just to chime in for fun. Since we’re farming perhaps gamify it a bit by tying node age directly to “acre” or “plot” size. So as you become an experienced farmer you get more land to farm  1 acre, 2 acres, etc

Agreed.
My thought was to follow the inspiration of nature in the design of the network and maintain a theme around farming. But to be honest I cant think of anything that tops the original suggestion by David.

Anyway using the type of (bank) vaults doesn’t seem fun:
e.g. American system: Class M 15 minutes to breach vault, Class I 30 min, Class II 60 min and Class III 120 min. But the Diebold vault door is cool.

Here is my mock browser and web hosting manager. I don’t see any authorisation prompt. I am using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

They were allocated in a centralised top down fashion though! Gladly SAFENetwork won’t suffer the same limitation though!

Tell that to the Barons who forced the signing of the Magna Carta on threat of death.

Social structures always form from both ways. Even SAFE. SAFE is just more proactive and less delayed in dealing with Lords and Monarchs that misbehave, and nobility is earned outright rather than inherited.

Thanks for posting it @vjbollavarapu and yes I’ve been having the same issue on windows and also Linux sometimes.

Really halts all development, if you can’t upload

@vjbollavarapu, can you please confirm that you are using the latest browser mock version with the latest example application? @srini can test the same to confirm if there is a bug while accessing the packed version of hosting app against mock.

If you are getting stalled, you can use the Simulate Mock Response from the File menu to get going.
please do keep in mind that the Simulate Mock Response will create a new user account each time.

@vjbollavarapu, I tried the binaries at my end and seems to work fine. However, this can happen if you have a white space in the path of the binaries. Please make sure there is no white space in the path. For example d:\maidsafe\mock release\example.exe wont work. Remove the white space and try the apps again please. This is a known limitation at this point of time.

@whiteoutmashups, so you can confirm that was the issue then?

Nope. Finishing a 6 hour flight :airplane: from Korea, maybe next week I’ll have a second free to try this kind of stuff again

For the diehards among us and the extra allure, we could have an almost unachievable level of age called something like “deity”, “God’s hand”, “humanities savior” etc. A level only reached by those running a stable node for over a decade or two. In addition, a SAFECOIN earn rate MUST be clearly listed next to the nodes’ rank. I.e. Infant = earn rate x1, child = earn rate x2 and so on to enhance the motivational push.

The associated imagery for each rank should also have great visual flair. With increasing detail and depth for each level on the ladder. As the node grows into it’s next stage the image of the next position could slowly begin rendering from the center outward. First starting completely blank then gradually appearing first in black & white then finally filling out in color. Once the node fully reaches the new rank the earn rate grows several font sizes larger, changes color and an added visual element becomes active. Would be pretty sexy IMO.

I know of a great many people who have endured the most tedious and monotonous video games and challenges just to either have a sense of completion and or have bragging rights. With SAFE you get so much more. Having it be a sleek and sexy makes the achievement even more desirable.

It looks like my guys have got it to work by switching to the new Peruse browser instead.

Glad to be free from the web_hosting manager issues now that we can use localhost

SAFE-FS rolls on!
