"Live" Community Apps

This post lists SAFE Web Apps, stand-alone SAFE Apps, and SAFE Related Apps built by people other than MaidSafe that you can use now!

Be aware that as of May 2016 most of these are “proof of concept” or pre-alpha and so not reliable or secure, but provided by the authors “as-is” so we can experiment with them.

App Xyz Doesn’t Work!

Also note that Apps may not work at all, be unreliable etc. for various reasons, and that links to SAFE Web Apps may not work if the developer “testnet” is down or has been updated to a new API version. If the testnet API has been updated, you will need to obtain a new version of the SAFE Launcher in order to access it.

This post is a Wiki so anyone can edit it to add new apps. Please do!

Installation

  1. You will need SAFE Launcher.

To obtain this please visit Stable Droplet Test Network and download SAFE Launcher from there.

  1. SAFE Web Apps (see below). That’s it! Once you have SAFE Launcher connected to the developer testnet, log into or create an account and you can just click on one of the Web App links and it should work!

  2. SAFE Apps and SAFE Related Apps need to be installed as separate applications, in addition to having SAFE Launcher running. So for those, visit the link and follow instructions there on how to install and use them.

Web Apps

Web apps are just like a website, no installer needed. All you need is the appropriate SAFE Launcher running and connected to the developer testnet and you can click on the “live link”. If that doesn’t work, make sure you have set up your browser proxy. So once SAFE Launcher is connected, click and off you go. If a link doesn’t work, read the above again from the top!

SAFE Apps

These are stand-alone Apps which install on your device (PC, tablet, phone etc) and can be used to access SAFE Network.

Click the link and follow the instructions on how to install and use any of these stand-alone SAFE Apps:

  • SAFE CLI - 64 bit Windows and Linux (no OSX) prebuilt binaries are here. Note this app will not be getting any changes until the upcoming API bc-incompat changes occur.
  • SAFE POC Browser - No prebuilt binaries. This is an unmaintained POC that will probably become a full-blown SAFE browser as part of the Shrewd project once API bc-incompat changes occur

SAFE Related Apps

These are stand-alone Apps which install on your device (PC, tablet, phone etc) and have some use directly related to SAFE network, but which don’t use the network API. So something to help your configure a farming vault for example, or scripts to upload a website, process a logfile etc.

Click the link and follow the instructions on how to install and use any of these stand-alone SAFE Apps:

Other

  • uBlock Origin Rule by @lightyear. Use this to block non-safenet-content on safenet. Not an App, but useful for improving the security of your browser when used with SAFE Websites and Web Apps.

But you’re not allowed to run vaults against this network.

Good point - noted in the OP.
