This tutorial explains how to set up hotkeys on a mac osx computer; or virtual machine so that you can easily and portably encrypt, decrypt, sign, and verify signatures using keyboard hotkeys 4 simple commands to establish a secure message environment for yourself will work anywhere really;
I would expect better from “The best PGP tutorial… evar”.
If you’re using PGP, then do it right and don’t trust any third parties, whether they are clouds or webmail providers or ISPs etc. Unless GMail is client side which seems unlikely, drafting a message in GMail and then encrypting is trusting Google and ISP.
Linux:Thunderbird has a Enigmail plugin which is a good option - I don’t know what the OS X equivalent is.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
you won’t be trusting google or gmail; I can encrypt messages right here, and even sign them right here
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----
Comment: GPGTools - https://gpgtools.org
-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
did that with a hotkey; I can highlight the BEGIN and to the END and verify the signature of this message; This works for instant communication as well; even in a chatroom; all of the encryption takes place locally;
SO much looking forward to auto signing and auto verification; also known as SAFE Network
Though this technology is a quick intermediate step towards then;
four things to remember: sign, encrypt, decrypt, verify
