It seems that if you pick something specific it finds something to do. When I selected “Any Disease” it idled a lot.

@Southside and you have 5 machines trying to catch him, or my one big one. @VaCrunch has multiple machines too which is why you are finding it hard. My big one is a single GPU card
And more are joining the community forum (SAFE Network #255524) team, so even though your team has all of the company behind you, the forum team is catching up.

They do. I am not in front of my computer right now but I believe its under “advanced view/configuration”. You have to supply an email and they send you one.

Was dissapointed being last on the list with a measly 100 points. So, I took the time to make an extra long ethernet cable, seems to be working now with just over 9K points with 12 WU completed

I am curious how some others have more points with less WU’s completed. Perhaps they are assigned more complex tasks based on there CPU / GPU power. I don’t seem to have a GPU installed, does that make for a more powerful computer? (Probably yes I assume)

Yes, the GPU gets work units suited for a GPU and similar CPU get work units suited to them. GPUs have multiple processors with multiple cores each.
One GPU I had once has 20 processors and 128 cores each. These are specialised processors and cores unlike a CPU

Well actually just 4 slots producing at any one time
1 GPU slot on the laptop - by far the most efficient
2 8core CPU slot also on laptop - Ubuntu 18.04
3 8core slot on laptop - Win 10 but its dual boot so they cannot run together - I probably will set up the GPU to run under Win 10
4 2core CPU slot on the old fileserver low RAM low compute big disks
5 4core GPU slot on the desktop Ubuntu 20.04 - upgraded early cos I totally screwed the existing 18.04 install while trying to load nVidia drivers for my GTX750 - which is still not producing…
3 of these are now working for the SAFE network team, I might get around to changing the config.xml on the fileserver later
Usernames are not unique which is why I started as southside, realised I had a lot more points than I had generated and found out there are 3 or 4 folk with the impeccable taste to have southside as a username. So now I am southside38. I suspect this is why there are two David Irvines. Or @dirvine set up two machines and mistyped a username in one

Sort by WUs you’d be one place higher?.. Surely unit of work is worth equal credit… or are some contributions to other diseases than Covid and less worthy??

I think higher powered computers get assigned harder and maybe longer tasks. But yeah, sure that works for me

I think GPU based WUs get more credit cos they are bigger and/or more complex.
4th place baby! And I ain’t passing that what with the runners numbers ahead of me. But satisfied I am, not on the pedestal, on the edge as always, like my Father before me…

By Monday, it had more than doubled that, hitting a new record of 2.4 exaflops, faster than the top 500 traditional supercomputers combined, thanks to almost 1 million new members of the network.

I actually took 3rd place 
but with that I am going to have to give my computer a rest, I am getting a bit concerned about all the work it has been doing and the last thing I need is something going wrong right now. A nice run from last place to third, it isn’t over yet but one must relax at intervals, oddly the hare has been playing the tortoise
