It may dethrone Ethereum easily
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding your proposed blockchain system, but it doesn’t look like what I was thinking. I was thinking of a blockchain that had one blockchain stored on safenet that was trusted by everyone, with maidsafe preventing people from alternating the stored data, thus keeping the blockchain honest, or something like that. Of course, my idea relies on safenet being able to prevent all bad actors from changing the data after it is posted. No saying my idea isn’t flawed beyond belief, however.
As soon as we start deciding what’s good or bad and how people should use SAFE we are imposing restrictions… and that should not happen. The whole point of SAFE is to be For Everyone and after it’s out in the wild I would love to see as many projects collaborating with and within SAFE if it suits them better
The MAID dont do time, is the reaper prepared to drop the hourglass before crossing the threshold.
@Nick Szabo
Trust-minimized clocks will make blockchains more secure
I agree, it’s open to everyone. I’m not saying we should forbid it, because we can’t
. But it’s my preference not to see blockchains (in the way they are) moved to SAFE.
As you are no doubt are aware blockchains are not a fad. Take the most popular application on the planet and tell the world your product cannot/prefers not to support it and you’re in trouble. The potential of SAFE (as noted by @sfcoin ) is diminished greatly when limitations are imposed. SAFE must be future-proof and must be all (important) things to all users to reach critical mass.
If they want to pay their share for space , have at it.
I’m not gonna share my servers for that. I’m very clear about it. I want to give others their vault and not that my HDD space is loaded with a blockchain. Whatothers want to do, no problem, but i am not gonna put thousands of dollars in servers for ETH.
It’s not a healthy way of thinking. Your mining setup should be data-agnostic, it shouldn’t matter from where the GET is coming and for what purpose, if you want to support the network you should do it no matter what. Maybe a bit taken to extreme, but it’s the same thing as if you’re saying you don’t want to support SAFE because some pedophile is using it to store god knows what
Ethereum also has security issue. It is 200,000 times more weaker than bitcoin network security, which is more prone to failure of the entire network. One super computer could take down the ethereum network. Meanwhile, all of the supercomputers in the world combined can’t take down the bitcoin security network, it will take 500x supercomputers to order to take down the network security.
I decide what is coming on my own paid servers. And i’m not gonna share it with ETH. Not you, not anyone else…me decides what coming on it. And if ETH is going to work together with SAFE i’m gonna pull the plug out of my OWN servers which i have paid incl. for bandwidth.
It a principle matter for me. Nick Szabo is using ETH to get more coins from people and eventually it is going to be abandoned by old supporters like they did with BTC. After that it is going to be forked by MS or IBM and everyone who invested in it is losing their money.
People should stop investing in ETH. Just remember these words and come back later to thank me.
Sounds like your more at home, with BitTorrent style sharing, where you can control the chunks your hosting.
It will be interesting to see what the collectives operating on BitTorrent do when this network launches…your stance might be a view they take on. But there will be new players in the pirate space that setup on SAFE, so market forces will be interesting to watch.
I’m okay with that.
Good luck
Then I don’t think you will be making your storage available to the SAFE network. You will never be able to discern what you are storing.
I dislike ethereum as much as the next guy but sheesh you can’t really say what goes where because it totally defeats the purpose (privacy, security, and well freedom). Call me old fashioned but I like the initial implementation of the safe network that hasn’t even been fully realized yet ![]()
Personally I do hope Ethereum teams up with MaidSafe vs Swarm or some other storage solution but holy crap some of the vitriolic comments coming from this thread are making me think twice abou that and my MAID investment.
If some of guys can’t see the network effect that is happening at the app development level with Ethereum then you probably shouldn’t be involved with cryptos. There is something special happening with Ethereum right now but a couple of you are acting like the hypocritical folks bad-mouthing Ethereum for absolutely ridiculous reasons.
I’m interested, please post some links to resources that demonstrate the network effect.
If you base your investments off of how a few people in a single thread talk about another project that has its flaws and yes has gotten far more emotional than objective…[quote=“JesseLivermore, post:56, topic:7744”]
then you probably shouldn’t be involved with cryptos.

I think it’s incredible the number of developers who are interested in & working with Ethereum, and this interest makes me wonder what the Ethereum scene will look like in 3 years time.
We’ll have to see what happens with blockchain bloat, move to proof of stake, governance, and adding features like storage, but I wouldn’t underestimate what could happen with ethereum + thousands of active developers continually pushing things forward, and the fact that many early adopters and developers are probably now loaded financially with 40x return on their Ether investments, so they can employ more developers / spend more time on projects to keep things moving forward.
You’re kidding right? Excuse my dust…
