Encrypted User Data Used By Apps

Continuing the discussion from Can MaidSafe Help Global Governance and Save The World from UKIP Too?:

I’ve been thinking about this as well. At one time I was thinking of a way in the “classic” web to keep user data behind a wall of encryption that would need to be requested before used. The app db would not save anything but talk to a 3rd party service that would need to be allowed in by each user. There would be nothing to stop the consuming app from saving it after the fact. We might be able to come up with something like this…

Might also tie this to a type of user reporting service/site where if a user get’s “spammed” without being asked for their data they can report it as a way to warn others about a potentially malicious app. This could get dangerous though if someone just wants to make trouble for a competitor.
