Decentralizing Electricity

Plant-e of the Netherlands is the best attempt I’ve come across at decentralizing electricity, which will be a crucial step in fully decentralizing the internet/society. They have discovered a way to get a (low) voltage of electricity from aquatic plants.

It is already being used to power some streetlights in their home country. While it doesn’t produce nearly as much electricity as conventional solar, it exceeds solar in liberating potential because it is more easier to self-build and self-maintain, which are qualities I believe to be indispensable to true decentralized autonomy. And who knows what diversity of it-was-always-in-front-of-you electricity solutions like this we will discover and share with each other via SAFEnet.
