I’m considering developing a decentralized, peer-to-peer chat application for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux. Is this something that can be built using MaidSafe? If so, how would I start?

This use-case or scenario was given as one of the many examples of a maidsafe-way to implement such stuff such as chat, dropbox and similar clones.
