Curses!!! That was the only bit that seemed to work for me.
Please consider keeping this up as long as possible. You obviously have a good start here and we should try to get the maximum possible participation on this.
If cost is an issue, please make an application to the BGF for help to finance this for a few days/weeks. To my mind, this is what the BGF should be for. And its loaded right now, a few $$ in DO costs is a drop(let) in the ocean.

I knocked my node off line by accident and re ran the join and it appears to have re-joined the network

Anyone using SN_CLI_QUERY_TIMEOUT=90 safe files put as suggested by @joshuef? don’t know what number to use there though.

I think the default timeout is 300 secs - Cant mind where I saw that. This just seems like a timesaver, if it hasnt worked in 90 secs, its not going to work so lets get on with other stuff.
Or have I misunderstood?
If the default is 300 secs that would make the delay 30 seconds.

@Josh - I didn’t try with the extra timeout query variable. Ran with the defaults as is.
I tried safe files put -r ./uploads/ directory containing a random 512 MB generated file. It took some time for the cli command to return, however it did give back a successful safe generated address for the upload!
CPU off the sn_node and the safe cli pid on the same container were not pegged at 100% during this upload test, yay!

My node ended up dying just a few minutes ago, possibly because I hadn’t changed the log directory as well, and that may have run out of space. I am not really sure on the cause of the crash, as I couldn’t find any log files either, and wasn’t watching the stdout at the time.
This time, I have re-spun it back up with --log-dir and --root-dir to paths that have 1TB+ free space, and I can see the log file being appended to in the proper directory.
I am also able to run the following safe cli commands successfully:

However, I can’t seem to download the two sample files directly from their safe link anymore. The safe cat doesn’t seem to return, and local file sample.txt shows 0 bytes downloaded. Anyone else having similar issue?

I’m getting pretty much the same results as you from a “regular” connection, an instance running in an LXD container and from my AWS instance
Still can’t actually join a node though from any of them. Going to have to call a halt on SAFE stuff for now, things are promised for Monday and they havent been done yet so this AWS instance going to have to revert to its original purpose for now.

I just uploaded a jpg and was unable to cat it do we have space left on the nodes as my node is out of space?
Did you limit the space a node could provide to the network to get more nodes online @Josh?
It was an honour to serve in the test net trenches with you fine gents but its bed time for me while I still have a wife!!
I’ll leave my node up as long as this baby flys and will have a go again tomoro if she is still going.

I set mine to 500 MB but with always-joinable it should not really matter.
