Bitfinex Hacked

In order to compensate our customers, we are planning on issuing a new token on the Omni protocol (shortcode “BFX”) to each customer equal to the amount of their discrete loss. Tokens will be given without release or waiver and will be transferable on the blockchain. The BFX tokens will remain outstanding until repaid in full by Bitfinex or exchanged for shares of iFinex Inc. The specific conditions associated with the exchange of these tokens will be explained in a later announcement.

oh fantastic! just what I always wanted. OMNIFRKINTOKENS.

If I wanted OMNITOKENS BITFINEX I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT MORE MAIDSAFE COINS.

thanks man. I’ve been trying not to think about it. I’m even more angry about the 30% socialising the loss. I think i’m just angry period.

Every right to be angry! Feel your pain bro… hope they make good in the end, sounds like they might.

I hope so my current excuse that my mother in-law robbed me isn’t holding up too well with the wife.

On a serious note: everytime an exchange gets hacked mainstream reports bitcoin as what was hacked. every. single. time.

It’s a novel idea… and notably how much of global finance seems to work these days… passing on bad credit for the market to revalue. It’ll be interesting to see then what market there is for that bad credit. Those with a view that the tokens have value will buy them up at a reduced rate. Still, I expect it’s optimistic there will be a buyer just yet as the market for cryptocurrency is still too small to play host to those with too much money and no sense; or is it just those who are willing to spend other people’s money on such derivatives.

That they are taking that route is perhaps small indication of their hope of recovery or perhaps they are simply wise to how it might deflect criticism for their own failure (haven’t read background but defaulting to a hack being the exchange’s error).

Once Safenetwork launches, lets say an exchange such as Poloniex wants to migrate over? …will migrating over to .safe make customers funds more safe? - is this possible?
