This was a good Adam Curtis film. If we could avoid systems that use peoples attention and money to create enclosure. If we could develop a preference for open. More good examples are needed to show the way.

How about a page on the Wiki or in the FAQ for all the Adam Curtis videos (and anything of similar quality, including books)? Headings might be:

  • Wiki: Social Commentaries That Inspired MaidSafe
  • FAQ: What films and books most inspired people to create Project SAFE?

For reference here are the posts I’ve been noting with this theme…

Adam Curtis - The Mayfair Set, The Century of the Self, The Trap - Whatever Happened to our Deam of Freedom

BBC documentaries by Adam Curtis, most specifically the The Mayfair Set,
The Century of the Self, and The Trap - Whatever Happened to our Dream of Freedom. These are on Youtube, and everyone should watch them.

and in the same post - BBC trilogy starting with Page Eight

A recent fairly realistic example of how the ruling elite thinks is the
trilogy of TV movies from the BBC starting with “Page Eight”

Free Is A Lie - https://safenetforum.org/t/free-is-a-lie/684:

Great vid on a direction we should be investing time and energy into… And why we should be.
Designer and social entrepreneur Aral Balkan believes it is time to
build an alternate future where we own our own tools, services, and
data. And to do this we must create a new category of design-led,
experience-driven ‘technology’.

I cant speak for what inspired Maidsafe, but maybe ‘Philosophy’ or more to the point ‘Failed Philosophy’. I just wonder if the ‘Blockchain’ will get a guernsey in pt4 of this film, feels utopian to me right now.

The failed ideas that turned outright destructive during the last 100 years, is mind boggling. These films should be required viewing for all upper high school students…lest the same mistakes be repeated.
