Even an unintentional act of copyright infringement carries statutory damages of at least $200, which would put damages in the hundreds of millions.

If only there were a decentralized system that could handle petabytes of the world’s data without being vulnerable to monetary battles…

I wonder how much this is on anyone’s radar here; is there something we can do right now to help in the current phase of things?

More context: The National Emergency Library related to the lawsuit is “a temporary collection of books that supports emergency remote teaching, research activities, independent scholarship, and intellectual stimulation while universities, schools, training centers, and libraries are closed.”
